Compare

Choose the tool that fits your training.

A spreadsheet, a workout logger, and a session generator solve different problems. Here is where Iron Progression fits, with a focus on logging, effort, and what to lift next.

Four ways to compare.

  1. Iron Progression vs. Spreadsheets

Flexible planning and custom formulas, compared with a purpose-built workflow for logging between sets.

  2. Iron Progression vs. Strong

A workout logger with history, charts, and RPE. Compare those tools with Iron Progression's program-linked targets and local records.

  3. Iron Progression vs. Hevy

Routines, RPE, progress analysis, and social features. Compare the workflow you use alone as well as the community features you value.

  4. Iron Progression vs. Fitbod

Personalized generated workouts and saved routines. Compare how you want to select exercises, repeat a plan, and review progression.

Side by side

The basics overlap. The workflow differs.

You can keep a useful training record in all of these tools. The better question is how each one fits the way you plan, log, and decide what to do next.

A check indicates that the information can be recorded or reviewed, not that the workflow is identical or automated. Spreadsheets and notes use fields or text you set up yourself; Strong and Hevy document RPE. Competitor features can vary by platform and product tier. These are workflow comparisons, not price comparisons or rankings.

Test one ordinary training day.

  • Plan: Enter your exercise order, rep ranges, rest, and intended effort. Check how much setup the tool needs.
  • Log: Find last session's result, change an exercise, and record a set that missed its target.
  • Review: Work out why the next prescription changed, and check whether the explanation matches your own progression rules.
  • Keep your data: Check export formats and device support before moving a long training history. An Iron Progression JSON backup is not a general-purpose importer for other apps.
